While walking around downtown yesterday I came upon the newest outdeer sculpture in front of the SBMA
And I really liked it. And as I stood there looking at it, it occured to me that I really liked the "Nanlets"
done in crochet.
As well as the "Venus of Willendorf."
And I thought to myself, what do these have in common that I like them so much? And the answer is simple, really. Big, fat, robust women.
So in honor of my newly realized appreciation (and the fact that I'd spent all morning looking at art, first at the Art Walk by the beach and then at the museum), I went home and made my first crocheted Venus. She needs some improvement, but overall I'm really happy with her:

And her cute little bum:
FYI: I didn't use the pattern from Nancy's Nanlets because I got very confused.
